Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at Aqaba University Hospital is a comprehensive, independent facility designed to provide immediate, high-quality care to patients with a wide range of emergency medical needs. The Emergency Department has more than 16 beds and is equipped with the latest advanced technology to monitor patients and ensure rapid follow-up. Two triage rooms are dedicated to triaging and classifying patients within a sophisticated system to ensure they receive appropriate and timely care based on the severity of their condition. The triage and classification system allows healthcare providers to effectively prioritize critically ill patients, ensuring those with the most urgent needs are cared for first. The Emergency Department is located on the main street with a separate, private entrance, providing easy access for patients and ambulances at all times.

The Emergency Department is carefully divided into specialized departments to meet the diverse needs of patients, including:

  • Adult Emergency: (9 beds) Dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of acute medical conditions, trauma injuries, and adult surgical cases.
  • Pediatric Emergency Department: (2 beds) A department specifically designed for children, equipped with specialized pediatric equipment and staff, and supervised 24/7 by a pediatrician, ensuring prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment for young patients.
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergency Department: Focuses on treating urgent cases related to pregnancy, childbirth, and women’s health. The 24/7 presence of a gynaecologist and obstetrician ensures accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of emergency cases.
  • Minor Operating Room: Equipped to receive minor burns, wounds, and fractures that require minimally invasive procedures, ensuring effective care without the resources of a full operating room.
  • Cardiac Emergency Room (2 CPR Rooms) A highly specialized suite designed to receive life-threatening emergencies requiring immediate resuscitation. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed with qualified medical personnel trained to handle these cases, the CPR room serves as an essential component of the hospital’s emergency care and ambulance services.
  • An isolation room for suspected infectious diseases, with separate support facilities and a private bathroom.

All emergency departments are connected to a central nursing station via an advanced monitoring system. This system enables real-time monitoring of all patients’ vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, allowing for rapid and accurate medical interventions.

Most importantly, the Emergency Department is located on the ground floor and is connected to several ancillary medical departments that provide convenience and speed in providing emergency medical services, such as the Radiology Department, equipped with advanced equipment from GE, the Pharmacy, and the Admissions Department.

The Emergency Department at Aqaba University Hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is staffed by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including emergency physicians, general surgeons, paediatricians, obstetricians, and gynaecologists, in addition to a highly qualified nursing and allied health staff.
