The establishment of Aqaba University Hospital was part of a broader initiative to improve Aqaba’s educational and healthcare infrastructure. In 2021, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Aqaba Education Company signed an agreement to develop a medical university and private teaching hospital with significant investment. The project aims to attract students from neighbouring countries and promote medical and educational tourism in Aqaba.
